
Local firefighters will be taking to the streets and knocking on doors this month to educate the public on fire safety in their homes.
Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue will be canvassing communities in October to provide local residents with fire safety education, while checking, testing, and replacing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
According to fire officials, the entire process is free and takes less than 10-15 minutes.
CHiRP will be going door-to-door in Wheatley on October 11, Tilbury on October 16, Merlin on October 18, as well as Chatham, Wallaceburg and Ridgetown on October 25. An open house will be held in Tupperville on October 18.
Firefighters will also be visiting schools across the municipality to distribute promotional items and educate students on fire safety practices.
