Rick Walker, Maintenance Supervisor at Riverview Gardens, gets his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. February 23, 2021.

It was a big day for Chatham-Kent’s COVID vaccination efforts.

The new mass vaccination clinic has officially opened its doors, by appointment only, providing shots for long term care staff and essential caregivers for now.

Rick Walker was the first in line to receive his shot Tuesday morning. Chatham-Kent’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. David Colby, gave the vaccine to Walker, the Maintenance Supervisor at Riverview Gardens.

In all, roughly 300 staff and caregivers received their first dose of the vaccine at the Bradley Centre site yesterday, with 400 more expected to get inoculated today.
