Almost half a dozen local families will be feeling the love – and the warmth – this winter.
Postma Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electrical has teamed up with Lennox for the second year as part of the national Feel the Love program, designed to support individuals and families who could use a helping hand.
This year, five Chatham-Kent families who have made a positive impact in the community or gone through a difficult time have been nominated to receive a brand new Lennox home comfort system, including air conditioning and heating. Lennox donated the equipment and Postma provided the installation and labour, free of charge.
Postma General Manager Nick Gonzalez says they’re glad to do what they can to give back to the community.
“We have done other programs through coat drives and things like that, but decided to just go full tilt for a week and do as many pre-installs as we could during the time (Lennox) allows us to do it,” Gonzalez said. “We were able to get five done this year for individuals and families that are doing a lot for their communities or going through challenging times.”
The Feel the Love campaign received roughly 100 nominations this year. Over the last few weeks, crews have installed furnaces and air conditioners for selected families in Tilbury, Shrewsbury, Chatham, Cedar Springs, and Grande Pointe.
“We wanted to give something back to those people that do thankless jobs and volunteer their time for free. The stories sometimes will get you down, things you don’t think about every day and things people go through, you hear those challenges and it’s nice to give back to them.”
Gonzalez says they are already starting to accept nominations for next year’s Feel the Love campaign.
