Five New COVID Cases in CK, Six Recoveries

A slight dip in Chatham-Kent’s overall COVID numbers today.

Public Health is reporting 5 new cases and six recoveries, lowering the active caseload to 51.

There are now eight total cases linked to the congregate living outbreak, first declared on August 25th.

The number of COVID patients at the Health Alliance is holding steady – eight patients being treated for the virus in care right now, two of whom are in the ICU.

CKHA officials say the average age of COVID patients is 60, none of whom have been fully vaccinated.

Across Ontario, there are 525 new cases being reported today. 336 people are being treated for COVID in hospitals province-wide 303 of whom are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. That’s on top of 158 COVID patients in intensive care, only 10 of whom are fully vaccinated.

Chatham-Kent’s vaccination rate sits at 78% of those 12 and older with at least one dose. 71% of CK’s eligible population is fully vaccinated with both shots.
