Flight from Police Leads to Charges for a Chatham Man

Several charges have been laid against a Chatham man after an early morning police chase.

An officer on patrol spotted a vehicle driving erratically on Park Avenue West around 12:30am and tried to pull the driver over.

The vehicle continued on, finally stopping once the man behind the wheel reached his own home.

Authorities believed the 47-year-old was under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to police headquarters for tests and charged with flight from police, impaired driving, and refusing to comply with a breath demand.

The accused was released with conditions and a date in court next month.
