UPDATED: Flood Watch Issued Ahead Of Weekend Rainfall

Staff with the two local conservation authorities are still keeping a close watch on local waterways.

The watershed received as much as 50mm of rain this week with more on the way tonight and into the weekend.

Officials with the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority say there is the risk that water levels in Thamesville and Chatham could rise to levels not seen since the flood of February 2018. The LTVCA is expecting to activate the Sixth Street Dam.

A flood warning has been issued by the St Clair Region Conservation Authority for waterways in the Petrolia and Oil Springs area, but officials say it could impact rivers and creeks in Wallaceburg if conditions change.

Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue Services have crews patrolling flood prone areas in both LTVCA and SCRCA regions to monitor community safety.
