Flu Shots Available Now

Flu Shots are available now, and Public Health officials are encouraging everyone to get the shot.

Chatham-Kent Public Health Nurse Dan Drouillard says some are more at risk of complications from the flu than others.

“Seniors and young children are at highest risk, as well as people that suffer from different medical conditions, pregnant women, people undergoing cancer treatment and that sort of thing,” Droulliard explains. “Some people are not able to get the flu shots because of different medical reasons, and for we recommend everybody get it just so the people around you are protected.”

Drouillard admits last year’s flu shot wasn’t terribly effective. but it’s expected this year’s version will work better. He says even if it isn’t an exact match, it can still help reduce the severity of symptoms.

The flu shot is free and is available at doctors’ offices, walk-in clinics, and pharmacies.
