Leaving some DNA behind at the scene of a crime means charges for a 36-year-old Moraviantown man.

According to Chatham-Kent police, Peter Hopkins tried to steal a truck from a Murray St. home just before Christmas. The theft was a failure, but $2,000 in damage was done to the truck.

Police managed to collect some DNA and a match was made.

Hopkins has been charged and released with a future court date.
