Former CKPS Officer Facing More Sexual Assault Charges

Charges have been laid against a former Chatham-Kent Police officer, accused of sexual assault dating back 17 years.

Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, a civilian law enforcement agency, was contacted by Chatham-Kent Police on September 8, 2025, after a woman reported incident that took place in 2009 while she was a minor and involved an on-duty constable.

Kenneth Miller has now been charged with one count each of sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and breach of trust.

Miller resigned from the Chatham-Kent Police Service in 2018 in the wake of similar accusations in 2013, 2015, and 2017. He was arrested by members of the SIU on Tuesday and later released with several conditions, including not communicating directly or indirectly with the victim.

Chatham-Kent Police officials released a written statement Tuesday afternoon.

“The Chatham-Kent Police Service recognizes the sensitive nature of these allegations and acknowledges the impact such matters can have on survivors and the community” the statement reads. “We remain committed to accountability, transparency and maintaining the trust and confidence of the community we serve.”

CKPS officials say as the matter is before the courts, no further comment will be made.

Miller will be back in court on May 19.
