More than 20,000 worth of illicit drugs have been taken off the street in Chatham, and four people have been arrested as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Offices with the Chatham-Kent Police Services Intelligence Unit and Emergency Response Team executed two search warrants on Wednesday shortly before 1 p.m. at a residence on McNaughton Avenue West in Chatham and on a motor vehicle associated with the investigation.
During a search, officers located and seized 217 grams of cocaine and 12.5 grams of fentanyl with an estimated street value of $24,200. Police also seized a loaded Glock .40 calibre handgun, a loaded Glock 9mm, prohibited overcapacity magazines, a Glock handgun replica CO2 BB gun, a pellet gun, digital scales, and Canadian currency.
As a result, a 27-year-old Chatham man, a 25-year-old Toronto man, and two Scarborough men, aged 21 and 22, were arrested at the scene and charged with multiple counts each of possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of trafficking. They were also charged with several firearm and prohibited weapon-related offences.
All four of the accused were held in custody pending bail hearings.
