Four Arrested in Walpole Island Drug Bust

Authorities have seized over half a million dollars’ worth of drugs and weapons on Walpole Island First Nation.

On October 18, officers with the OPP, Lambton and Elgin-Middlesex Community Street Crime Units, West Region OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Canine Unit, and Walpole Island Police Service executed a search warrant at a Union Hall Road property.

Police seized over $500,000 worth of fentanyl, methamphetamine, firearms, Canadian currency, and other offence-related items.

Four Walpole Island residents have been arrested, all charged with two counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device, or ammunition; and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 33-year-old man has also been charged with three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and failure to comply with a probation order.

A 58-year-old is also charged with one count of possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order.

All four accused were remanded back into custody after a court appearance in Sarnia.
