There may be a spark of hope in the ongoing dispute between teachers and the Ontario government.

The union representing French teachers across the province have agreed to return to the bargaining table today ahead of a one-day province-wide strike scheduled for tomorrow. It would be the first time the union has hit the picket line since it was founded in 1998.

Meantime, Public elementary students will be back in their classrooms today after two days of strikes by members of the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario.

There’s no word yet on any further strike action for next week, and no plans to resume bargaining with the province.

Public high school teachers are also expected to hit he picket line tomorrow in some regions, however the Lambton Kent board won’t be affected.

And English Catholic teachers announced earlier this week they are ramping up their work-to-rule campaign by refusing to fill in for absent teachers, among other things.
