Funding Arrives To Assist Students With Mental Health Issues

Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Rick Nicholl’s is delivering more cash from Queens Park.

He announced a total of $730,000 dollars in mental health funding for students at the University of Windsor and the campuses of St. Clair College.

The money is part of a program designed to support post secondary school students on campus and learning virtually.

“We are extremely grateful for the provincial government’s enhanced support of the mental health services which we provide to our students,” said St. Clair College President Patti France. “The incidence of debilitating stress and depression affecting young people has been escalating almost annually, and it has unfortunately been exacerbated by the pandemic. We plan to significantly expand our support services to students with this new provincial funding.”

The money will also be used to address the concerns of vulnerable students and diverse groups like Indigenous students, LGBTQ, and students with disabilities.
