Local health care service are getting a funding boost.
The province has announced $32.4 million to hire more paramedics and increase ambulance services in the region.
“Our government is making historic investments to ensure families in Southwestern Ontario can access quality healthcare services they need, no matter where they live,” said McNaughton. “Today’s funding will allow us to hire even more healthcare workers and ensure these front-line heroes have the support they need.”
Through the annual Land Ambulance Service Grant, municipalities receive funding for 50 per cent of the costs for their land ambulance operations.
Over $7 million is also being invested through the Dedicated Offload Nurses Program in Chatham-Kent to hire more nurses and health care workers including paramedics, respiratory therapists, and physician assistants, who are dedicated to offloading ambulance patients to receive care in emergency departments.
“This investment is key to providing individuals with the necessary healthcare where and when they need it,” said Trevor Jones, MPP for Chatham-Kent-Leamington. “This will also ensure that healthcare providers have more resources in order to better serve the residents in the region.”
