L-R: Daniel Farrow, Executive Director of Family Services Kent; Tara Greenway, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Coordinator & Clinical Resource Nurse; Joelle Brown-Detailleur, Relationship Manager of United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent & Women’s United Administrator; Karan Kirkwood-Whyte, Women’s United Executive Committee Member; and Karen Hunter, CEO of Chatham-Kent Women’s Shelter.

A local women’s group is helping to support other women and families in crisis.

Women United, a philanthropic network within the United Way, is donating $20,000 to the Chatham-Kent Trauma Support Program.

Officials say the funding will provide essential services for women and children affected by intimate partner violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault; and facilitate the expansion of trauma support programs in collaboration with the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Family Service Kent, and the Chatham-Kent Women’s Shelter.

“We are honored to support the expansion of this vital trauma support program for Chatham-Kent” said Lorraine Goddard, CEO of United Way Windsor-Essex Chatham-Kent. “Women United is a dedicated and generous group of community minded women. With this donation we hope to raise awareness for the Chatham-Kent Trauma Support Program, empowering women and children affected by intimate partner violence. Together, we can create a safer, more supportive community where survivors can find hope and the resources they need to rebuild.”

The Chatham-Kent Trauma Support Program is dedicated to offering comprehensive services that address the unique needs of women and children facing these challenges. The funding from Women United will ensure the programs continue to grow and reach more individuals who require support.
