An online fundraiser has been launched to help a family in need. 
Dereck Szaflarski, a John McGregor grad, was killed in London over the weekend as he celebrated his 27th birthday.
Friends say Szaflarski was born in Michigan, but raised by his Chatham grandparents, who have since passed away.
A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with funeral costs.
So far, the crowdsourcing campaign has raised nearly $9500.
