Glen Jackson Memorial Race Day Raises $5K For Camp Vincent

The 2020 Glen Jackson Memorial Race Day has helped raise $5,000 for the local St. Vincent de Paul’s Camp Vincent.
The annual race day and fundraiser celebrating the life and memory of Glen Jackson was held at the Grand Bend Motorplex on September 12th.
Due to COVID-19, this year’s fundraiser had to be a private event with a limited number of cars and spectators. Despite the restrictions, family and friends still managed to raise $3,700 at the track. A very generous donation was made by the Courteaux family to top up the funds with an additional $1,300.
Funds raised were donated to Camp Vincent, the local camp owned and operated by St. Vincent De Paul.
“Thanks to the drivers and fans a bunch of lucky kids will be attending camp next year,” said organizing committee member Lee Salisbury.
This year winners were: George Vigh for fastest street car, Matt Marchand for fastest street car driven to the track, Tom Craig for fastest reaction time and Eric Savoie for the Bracket Race.
The race day team would like to thank volunteers Lee Salisbury, Heather Salisbury, Brandy Chauvin, Melissa Charlebois, Chantal Lalonde, Mary Yacks, Russell Yacks Sr, Branden Vansnick, Danielle Bird – Evans and Franco Gabriele. Donations and sponsorship was provided by Riverview GM, Comic Oasis, Main Phase, Bill’s International Pizza, MTR Excavating, The Watered Edge, Knights of Pythias, Progressive Ford, Patterson Motors, Life Expressions, O’leary Bro’s Racing, Wallaceburg Eye Care Centre, Napa, Murray Street Auto, the Blake Family, The Lankhof Family, The Lethbridge Family and The Courteaux Family.
The Glen Jackson Memorial Raceday was organized to pay tribute to Glen Jackson – a man that loved and lived the sport of drag racing.
“Without the support of all who have attended this event over the past years this wouldn’t be the success it is,” added Salisbury. “So many great memories are made not just on the day of the races but the days leading up to and all the countless hours spent preparing our vehicles for this day of unforgettable memories. The event has continued to give car, truck and bike enthusiasts something to keep the spark alive and even created new enthusiasts which is very important as it seems to be something that was fading.”
The Glen Jackson Memorial Race Day has raised and given back over $40,000 to the community since it started in 2014.
