Good Riddance, May!

In what should come as a surprise to nobody, Environment Canada says May was cooler and wetter than normal.

Environment Canada meteorologist Peter Kimball says with more than 100mm of rain this month, it’s above average.

We didn’t have any huge rainfall days in the month, I can count on just over hand the number of days with 0.0mm of rain,” Kimball says.

The average rainfall for May is 77mm, or just over 3″.

It wasn’t a record breaking month in Chatham-Kent though. The highest amount of rainfall for May on record was in 1892 at 211mm.

While it has been a cool month, Kimball says it was really only about one degree below average.
