More homes are being built just east of Chatham-Kent.
On Friday, the provincial and federal governments announced over $510,000 in combined funding through the Canada–Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI) to support affordable, accessible housing in Dutton.
Built in partnership with the Dutton and District Lions Club, the project on Lions Road is a new three-storey apartment building with 33 units for seniors, with 17 of them supported through COCHI funding to maintain affordability.
Officials say the building meets energy efficiency standards and includes seven barrier free units, along with a common laundry room, elevator, and shared community space. It is within a short walk of downtown amenities and situated beside a long-term care home and daycare.
