Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent is celebrating the grand reopening of its newly renovated facility.
Thanks to a $136,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters was able to renovate the interior office space at its facility at 137 Queen St. in Chatham, making it a more inviting, safer, and cleaner space.
The improvements to the facility were completed in May and a grand re-opening was held on Friday.
“Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent has been a consistent and unwavering support,” said Chatham-Kent-Leamington MPP Trevor Jones in a news release. “This generous grant from the esteemed Ontario Trillium Foundation extends far beyond physical renovations. It emphasizes the paramount importance of championing these young individuals, whose success and well-being are intrinsically linked to the prosperity and vitality of our entire community.”
In addition to the overall renovations of the space, the agency was able to create a safe client, family and volunteer space, allowing the agency to be more inclusive and welcoming to everyone and ensuring all client needs are being met.
