Great Big Crunch

The saying is an apple a day keeps the doctor away and more than 1400  students in Chatham-Kent are going to be putting that theory to the test today.

Today is “The Great Big Crunch” event across the province, and will see students biting into an apple this afternoon at nearly every school in CK.

Allan Davies, CK Student Nutrition Coordinator says it’s more than just eating an apple.

“The overall goal is to continue the awareness of the nutrition program,” Davies says. “Any time we can have students enjoying fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, we need to take that opportunity.”

38 schools across Chatham-Kent offer a breakfast, snack, or meal student nutrition program, serving over 6600 kids each year.
