Mayor Randy Hope and dozens of volunteers were on hand to see the first turn of the earth for what will be a 2.3 million dollar facility.
It is being built right beside the old shelter on Park Ave. This new shelter will be nearly three times bigger than the current 1800 square ft. shelter and have all new bells and whistles.
Among the upgrades, an area for pet adoption. A green area for dogs to run and play, and a large room for birthdays and community groups to meet and learn about caring for animals.
They hope to have it completed by early next year.
