Guitar Summit Hits Chatham Tonight

Today marks the 10th annual Chatham-Kent Guitar Summit at the Capitol Theatre. tom-lockwood

Organizer Tom Lockwood says it’s all about showcasing local talent.

“It wasn’t geared toward any one approach or style,” Lockwood says. “I just thought there were so many really fine players in every style imaginable.”

Lockwood says one of the big names coming back to visit his home town is Mike Francis, whose father had a band called Ray Francis and the Whippoorwills.

“He ended up being a first-call studio musician in Toronto, he worked on the Tommy Hunter Show,” Lockwood explains. “He’d be doing recording six or seven days a week, easily the most recorded guitar player in this country.”

Tickets for the Guitar Summit are $35 and available online. Click here for more details.
