Gun Amnesty Nets Big Haul

Chatham-Kent residents turned over 40 long guns, seven hand guns, two pellet pistols, and two knives to the municipal police last month.

April was gun amnesty month, and no weapon related charges were filed against the people that handed in the firearms.

Police Chief Gary Conn says by turning in your weapons for destruction, police can ensure they will never fall into the hands of those with criminal intent.

Another 50 lbs of ammo was also taken in my police.
