A bit of a reprieve for a local landmark.
Earlier this week, published reports said a demolition order had been issued for the Guyitt House, an abandoned property on Talbot Trail in Palmyra.
Built in the 1840s, the dilapidated house has become a tourist attraction and is said to be the most photographed house in Canada.
The owner of the property was sent a letter from the municipality on September 15th, saying the house was in violation of bylaw 151-2015 under the Building Code Act, giving him two weeks to tear it down or the municipality would take care of it and send him the bill.
An online petition was launched by a concerned citizen, Ken Bell, to save the property from the wrecking ball.
East Kent councillor Steve Pinsonneault announced on social media he and fellow Ward 3 Representative John Wright met with municipal administration this week and say the demolition has been put on hold for a few months until the heritage value of the property can be determined, and find a solution to save it.
