An annual event in support of palliative care in Chatham-Kent has broken is fundraising record.
The Fall Handbags for Hospice fundraiser was held on October 15 at the Everest Convention Centre, bringing together 300 guests for fun, prizes and community spirit. The evening featured 12 games of Bingo for a chance to win designer handbags, a raffle table, and the Platinum Purse Draw.
A total of $43,000 was raised, breaking the event’s record by nearly $5,000.
“We couldn’t be more grateful for the generosity of our community,” said Brock McGregor, the executive director of the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation, in a news release. “Handbags for Hospice is about so much more than winning a beautiful handbag. It’s about coming together to make a difference for families in our community during some of life’s most difficult moments.”
All funds raised will go towards providing compassionate end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent at no cost to families.
The next Handbags for Hospice event will take place in spring 2027, with details to be announced at a later date.
