A recent fundraising event featuring designer handbags has raised over $30,000 in support of end-of-life care in Chatham-Kent.

The Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation hosted the fifth annual Handbags for Hospice event at the Everest Convention Centre on October 12.

The event featured 12 games of bingo with the winners taking home a designer handbag from brand names like Michael Kors, Coach, and Kate Spade. An additional 35 prizes, which were donated by local businesses were also raffled off.

The sold-out event raised a record-high $32,000.

The funds will be used to cover operational costs at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, to ensure families have access to compassionate, end-of-life care at no cost.

Since its inception, Handbags for Hospice has raised more than $121,000.
