Sherri Saunders, the Integrated Executive Director of the Chatham Kent Health Centers says with the new model patients will be directed properly and get the care that they need right away.
“What makes the model very prescient is that the linkages that are rooted in the community and it’s wrapped around the client’s needs,” says Saunders. “Ensuring that they’re getting the right provider at the right time. This is part of the process, we’re in the planning phase. ”
The model does need the approval of the LHIN and the Ministry of Health. The plan has already been green lit by the St. Joseph and Public General Hospital boards but not the Sydenham due to the reduced emergency room services.
