Heat Warning Issued For Chatham-Kent

Hot and humid temperatures in the forecast have prompted Environment Canada to issue a heat warning for Chatham-Kent.

The weather agency said the hot weather is expected to begin on Wednesday, with temperatures reaching 32-35 C in the afternoon. The humidex will make it feel closer to 40 C.

Overnight, there will be little relief from the heat with the temperature only expected to drop to 22-25 C.

The high temperatures will persist into Thursday before improving in the evening.

Environment Canada said extreme heat can affect everyone but those at the greatest risk include young children, pregnant women, older adults, and people with chronic illnesses.

Everyone is advised to drink plenty of water and stay in a cool place. As well, pets should never be left inside a parked vehicle.
