Helping CK’s Homeless

The Chatham-Kent Housing and Homelessness hits its midpoint report this year.

The 10 year strategy has a goal to help every person have an affordable, safe and adequate place they can call home.

More than 10,000 days were spent being homeless by people living in Chatham-Kent, with the average age being 38 years old, and predominantly male.

Rising property values and declining vacancy rates get a growing share of the blame for housing insecurity in Chatham-Kent.

47 homes were assisted in paying their rent last year, more than $600,000 was granted through a pair of programs to help low income residents repair their homes so they could continue to live in them.
