A group of volunteers is once again encouraging Chatham-Kent residents to write cards and send gifts to CK seniors to ensure they are not forgotten during the holiday season.

Now in its fifth year, volunteers with Santa for Seniors will be collecting holiday cards and gifts for local seniors living in retirement and nursing homes, as well as those who live independently, who may be lonely and isolated.

Examples of some items that can be given as gifts are toiletries, cookies, tea, puzzles, hats, gloves, stationery, and other small items. Those who need an empty box can pick one up from the TekSavvy Security Kiosk at 800 Richmond St., in Chatham.

Cards and gifts will be accepted until December 13 and then delivered during the week of December 17 through December 20.

Santa for Seniors is a project that was inspired by many other food and gift drives that took place in Chatham-Kent because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
