Home Prices Continue to Rise

Chatham-Kent continues to be a sellers’ market when it comes to home sales.

The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors is out with its monthly figures, and says the number of properties sold in July was up seven percent from the same time a year ago, with 137 homes changing hands.

“Home sales were strong in July, coming in fewer than 10 transactions below the record for that month set back in 2016,” says President Steve Carroll. “The intense competition among buyers for limited listings this year has been evident in the behaviour of prices, which remain on track for a huge gain in 2019.”

So far 770 have sold in 2019, up 2.2% from the same period in 2018.

The average price of a home sold last month was $255,834, up 7% from July, 2018.
