Homelessness Documentary Gets Second Screening

A locally produced documentary focusing on Chatham-Kent’s homeless crisis is getting a second showing.

“Unhoused: Communities in Crisis” is the work of Kat and Karissa Strain, known professionally as Sisters Strain, and focuses on the municipality and community’s response to the housing crisis and potential solutions.

The filmmaking sisters interviewed numerous community leaders over the last several months, including municipal staff, officials with Reach Out Chatham-Kent (R.O.C.K.) and Hope Haven, those working at Pathways on Park, Chatham-Kent’s new transition cabin project, as well as community members affected by homelessness.

The documentary was initially screened at Chatham’s Tecumseh Park last month, but the weather didn’t cooperate and the show was paused half-way through.

A red carpet event is now set to take place Saturday, November 8th at the Capitol Theatre starting at 7:30, thanks to support from an anonymous donor and generous sponsorship from Rotary District 6380. Admission is free with a request for donations for Outreach for Hunger.
