From the renaming of the Dresden arena to the festivities in downtown Chatham, Councillor Brock McGregor says it was a celebration for the entire municipality.

“We’ve seen this pattern repeat itself, whenever we host an event the municipality goes all out, people are super supportive, we see great crowds,” McGregor says. “Really it’s jut another positive for our community, and demonstrations what community means to Chatham-Kent.”

As part of the festivities, the Chatham-Kent 4-H club was presented with a $15,000 grant.

4-H president Kris McNaughton says the money will be put to good use. “4-H has something to offer everyone, and with the generosity of Rogers, we are going to be able to help start up and run some new initiatives and fund some ones we have already in action, like our Future Leaders in Action program.”

Thousands of hockey fans made their way through downtown Chatham over the course of the weekend.

Everything was capped off last night with the live Sportsnet broadcast from the corner of Wellington and Fourth, showcasing stories of local stars like Fergie Jenkins, Ken Houston, and TJ Brodie.
