
The crack of the bat will be heard at Fergie Jenkins Field this weekend, honouring Chatham’s storied baseball history.
Launched in 2021, the annual Field of Honour baseball game pays tribute to the 1934 Chatham Coloured All-Stars and early baseball in Canada.
Saturday’s event at Fergie Jenkins Field in Chatham features descendants of early Black baseball players in a charity game.
Admission is by donation with proceeds going to support the Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society and Black Mecca Museum.
The gates at Fergie Jenkins Field open just after 9 o’clock on Saturday morning. First pitch is set for 11 o’clock.
