COVID-19 has effected everyone but for the homeless the impact is even stronger.
Chatham Hope Haven is working hard to keep up their efforts but it’s not easy.
G.M. Wanda Bell says ” most of Chatham’s homeless are always looking for a place to live, but finding affordable housing is an on going challenge. Now with COVID-19 it’s hard to find a room they can even self isolate is a matter of life and death”.
She points out they have identified 15 men who are most in need to be offered accommodation so they can self isolate.
She adds the places where they usually spend time during the day are closed.
And now Chatham Hope Haven is going to cease accommodations and night time operations.
They are concerned about the health of their volunteers.
Saturday April 25th will be the final night Hope Haven offers accommodations.
