The final numbers are in, with over $75,000 raised at this year’s Chatham-Kent Hospice gala.
Foundation Executive Director Jodi Maroney says Friday night’s sold out event was a huge success.
“All the money raised stays local to support the Hospice families and help us cover our operating costs because we only get partial coverage from the government,” Maroney says. “This is going to pay for all of those bills, and the end result is more families in our community get hospice support.”
The event raised the funds through ticket sales and live and silent auctions.
One big auction item was a Brilliant Cut Canadian diamond donated by Mittons Jewellers in Ridgetown.
Since it opened in 2016, the end-of-life care facility has served over 510 families in Chatham-Kent at no charge.
Last year’s event brought in over $48,000.
