The Chatham-Kent Hospice is launching a fall fundraising campaign to support end-of-life care for local residents.
Executive Director Jodi Maroney says they’ll be holding a number of events throughout the fall to support the facility.
“People may not realize we have to continually raise funds in the community to help support the hospice,” Maroney says. “We have partial funding from the Local Health Integration Network, but that only covers the costs of our nurses’ salaries. Everything else, be it food or utilities or cable, all those types of things have to be covered through financial support from our donors.”
The organization is hoping to raise $850,000 over the fiscal year, with the fall campaign as well as memorial donations and ongoing pledge payments.
The Hospice Foundation is also holding a gala fundraiser next Friday night. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at the Hospice on Wellington Street in Chatham.
