Hospital Deficit Revealed

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance continues to struggle with a hefty deficit.

At a recent board meeting, hospital officials revealed they are expecting to see a deficit of $3.4-million for the 2015/2016 fiscal year.

Getting the blame are salary and wage costs, supply costs and expenses related to the U.S. dollar which include drugs and medical gases.

Things don’t look to be improving in the near term with the 2016/2017 deficit currently forecasted to be $5.7-million.
