Hot, Humid Weather Blankets CK

Hot, humid air continues to blanket southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada has extended a heat warning into today and possibly tomorrow in some areas, with daytime highs near the low 30s, humidex values near 40, and little overnight relief with lows near 20 Celsius.

Officials say extreme heat can affect everyone’s health. Residents are urged to drink plenty of water before they feel thirsty to reduce the risk of dehydration, limit direct sun exposure, and never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.

Cooling stations are expected to open across Chatham-Kent for those in need of a break from the heat.

Those lacking shelter, water, or food are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of extreme heat. Anyone experiencing homelessness should call the Homeless Response Line at 519.354.6628 (24/7) for support.
