Hydro One Selects Preferred Route for Longwood to Lakeshore Line

A preferred route has been chosen for Hydro One’s newest transmission line.

Details of the single-circuit 500 kilovolt Longwoods to Lakeshore transmission line have been released, which officials say takes technical, socio-economic and environmental constraints into account.

Hydro One documents say the preferred route, previously identified as Route 3B, is the shortest of alternative routes, minimizes the impact on residential properties, requires the least amount of land, and involves the least potential disruption to species at risk and their habitats as well as the least vegetation removal.
