Ignore Barricades, Face Charges

Dozens of roads in Thamesville and Chatham were closed in February, 2018 due to flooding.

A Chatham pedestrian is recovering after being hit by a car, but her saga isn’t over yet.

Chatham-Kent Police say the 26-year-old was walking across St Clair Street near Stone Avenue when she was struck.

The woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and has now been charged with failing to use a cross-walk.

Officers had blocked off St Clair Street between McNaughton and Grand for several hours for the investigation, but authorities say three motorists were stopped and charged for going around the barricades.

Motorists convicted of driving on a closed highway can face a $110 fine and three demerit points on their license.
