Impaired Boating Charges Laid

A London boater is facing impaired driving charges after an incident near Fawn Island over the long weekend.

An off-duty OPP officer saw the vessel hit a dock in the Fawn Island Canal. Authorities say there were several young passengers on board at the time.

The officer suspected the man operating the boat may have been drinking, and escorted the boat to a nearby launch, where the accused was handed over the Lambton OPP.

The 52-year-old man was taken to a nearby detachment for tests and released with a date in court next month.
