An arrest has been made following a weekend collision in Chatham.

Police were called about a loud bang heard on Indian Creek Road West shortly before 12:30 Saturday morning.

Officers arrived and found a pickup trying to reverse out of a treed area near Lacroix Street. The driver was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where breath tests showed he had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

Authorities say the driver had gone straight through the intersection without stopping.

The 43-year-old has been charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over the legal limit. He was released with a date in court next month.
