Improving EMS Response Times

Getting around Chatham-Kent is difficult for paramedics and Emergency Services has a few ideas of how they can reduce response times.

A pilot project is being examined and it would involve the ambulance in Tilbury being relocated for Merlin.

West Kent Councillor Bryon Fluker is concerned that will create longer response times for Tilbury and area residents.

However, Assistant Chief Scott Ramey wants to allay those fears.

“Being such a large community, it’s very challenging with the geography and the call volumes,” Ramey says. “With the call volumes increasing, we need to be very creative and we need to be progressive in how we address these sort of things to make improvements.”

Nothing is set in stone, but officials only expect response times to improve.
