The province is investing three million dollars to help train workers in the auto manufacturing sector. 
Officials say the Rapid Skills pilot will provide high-quality, short duration training. It is designed to help workers who are unemployed, underutilized, or at-risk of being laid off.
“Ontario’s businesses are evolving at a faster pace than our training system,” says Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development, Monte McNaughton. “Today’s announcement is a sign that our government is committed to the auto and advanced manufacturing sectors. We’re listening to industry’s best advice on how we can quickly adapt to meet their needs.”
Organizations are now able to apply to develop and deliver training through the program with more info on how individuals can take part coming in early 2020.
Figures show more than 100,000 people are directly employed in Ontario’s auto assembly and parts industry with thousands more in spin-off jobs in communities across the province.
