A change in leadership is coming to the St Clair Catholic District School Board.

Director of Education Scott Johnson has announced he will be retiring at the end of March, 2025.

Johnson has worked in the education field for 33 years, starting as an elementary teacher in Halton Region in 1992. He joined the St Clair Catholic board in 2005 and served in various roles before taking over as Director of Education in 2021.

At the provincial level, Mr. Johnson has been a mentor, adjudicator, and guest speaker for the Ontario Catholic Supervisory Officers’ Association. Locally, he has served on several boards, including the Sarnia Lambton Workforce Development Board, the Chatham-Kent Community Leaders’ Alliance, and the Sarnia Lambton Immigration Task Force.

“Scott Johnson’s leadership has been a true blessing to our Catholic school community,” said Board Chari John Van Heck in a news release. “His unwavering commitment to faith, education, and the well-being of our students has left an indelible mark on all of us. We wish him all the best as he enters this new chapter of life, and we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.”

The Board of Directors plans to retain a recruitment firm and begin the selection process for a new Director of Education this fall.
