A quick thinking farmer is being praised following an attempted theft near Wallaceburg.

Chatham-Kent Police say the man spotted two suspicious people on an ATV driving on his neighbour’s property on Starkweather Line yesterday morning.

Constable Renee Cowell says the farmer called police when he spotted the suspects leaving with a can of gas.

“We were able to set up a perimeter… the man on the ATV was stopped, the K9 unit tracked the man and after a short chase, he was apprehended hiding in a ditch.”

Both suspects have been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, mischief, and being in possession of break-in tools. One was also arrested an outstanding warrant for administering a noxious substance and assault.
