Keep Safety Top of Mind This Summer

With school out and summer in full swing, local OPP officers are encouraging everyone to stay safe on the roads, after a number of incidents in the province over the long weekend. 

According to provincial police, last weekend saw seven fatalities on OPP-patrolled roads.

Five drivers, one passenger, and one pedestrian were among the victims in seven separate collisions across Ontario.

Off the road, officers say three people drowned, and two people died in marine incidents in OPP jurisdictions.

7,000 speeding charges were laid over the long weekend – 170 of which were for stunt driving.

Police say to make safety a top priority this summer while on the roads waterways, and trails.
