Local educators are lending a hand to parents as they deal with an extended break with their kids. 
Ben Hazzard is the Lambton Kent District School Board’s superintendent of education, and says it’s a confusing time for everyone, especially families.
“Normally, we send the kids on the bus or they walk into school and they interact with the teachers,” Hazzard says. “Here, we’ve got our kids right with us and it’s a question sometimes working from home, what does that look like for families and students?”
The public and English Catholic boards and the provincial government all have a variety of online resources for students on their websites.

The St Clair Catholic District Board is also offering to help students that don’t have access to devices to support online learning with the loan of a Chromebook until schools reopen. Parents of kids in the SCCDSB can contact the board directly for more information.
Hazzard says the main goal is being able to keep kids engaged until classes resume.
“We don’t know yet what the province will choose to do if this extends much longer. You can rest assured we’re making plans to make sure we get those supports (in place) when they come up next.”
